Full disclosure, I have a dick. BUT If you think Daniel Tosh should be thrown off the air, shouldn’t you be morally obligated to campaign equally hard to get Eminem dropped from his record label too? I mean he’s clearly advocating rape in this song. I don’t agree with you but I can respect your opinion if you’re campaigning against everyone who makes rape jokes in mainstream media. But anyway if you’re anti-Tosh how can you not be anti-Eminem? That’s just selectively targeting the guy who’s already gotten the momentum against him and hopping on the bandwagon, not standing for a principle. That’s fucked up.
Also, not to immediately raise the “blame the victim” flags but you wouldn’t go to an Eminem concert cause you know what to expect and you find it offensive. So if this type of thing offends you why would you go to a Tosh stand-up show? You didn’t know what type of humor he had???? He’s way too famous for me to believe that. If this was some no-name comedian then I can understand being offended, but the dude is maybe the most famous stand-up comedian in the world and he only does jokes like this. Obviously his response to being told to not do rape jokes by an audience member was very boneheaded (women tend to take it more seriously than men when the words “rape” “her” and “now” are used, pretty fucking justifiably), but enough to lose his job? Because someone bought a ticket to to sit at his performance and told him not to perform the way he wanted to, and he didn’t handle it properly?
Is this about Tosh losing his job over this one incident or about rape jokes in general? I think people are claiming the former but they really mean the latter. You can say that “it’s not okay to joke about rape, ever” but that doesn’t make it illegal. That doesn’t mean other people can’t go pay to hear rape jokes, as long as they aren’t actually raping everyone. The 1st Amendment covers this shit. You have the right to call for their jobs but it also means you think people should be fired for their opinions.
There are actual rapists out there and frankly it trivializes rape victims to imply that their suffering happened because of something somebody like Daniel Tosh said. If you REALLY care about violence against women, if you REALLY want to punish a public figure who symbolizes it, stop petitioning Daniel Tosh’s show and go get Chris WomanBeater/#1AlbumSeller Brown dropped from his record label. In fact, if you’re signing this petition and you still listen to Chris Brown you should be fired from your job on the spot, and probably shot in the head because you’re fucking up the gene pool with your stupid genes.
That all applies to men AND women.
Rant over
Deuces (btw i’m taking this word back from Chris Brown)
