All this fuckin’ hating on Lil’ Wayne and Tha Carter IV… I get it but it still doesn’t make sense.  Like, Wayne has gotta be the most polarizing figure in rap.  There are a lot of people who just hate his fucking guts (read: Kanye stans), and it really didn’t matter what his new album sounded like cuz they were gonna do their best to drop a big deuce on it and how it can’t hold a candle to Watch The Throne and blah blah blah who gives a fuck.  C4 is great and if you don’t think so, fuck you, but that’s not the point. 

We should take this opportunity to recognize a once-great artist who truly HAS fallen off, and not in a C4 isn’t as good as C3 or Blueprint 3 isn’t as good as Blueprint 1 kind of way.  I’m talking about Scott Mescudi AKA KiD CuDi.  In 2009, CuDi released one of the great hip-hop albums of the past ten years with Man On The Moon: The End Of Day.  The next year, he released one of the most disappointing albums I’ve ever heard, Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager.  It got a few good reviews sir, but I’m pretty sure that’s just cause nobody could believe how fucking hard MOTMII blew and all the magazines were afraid of pissing off their hipster readers. 

And since then, CuDi has fallen off the face of the Earth.  Like sure he’s still occasionally making music, but it’s not relevant and I really don’t even have much of a desire to listen to it.  It reminds me a lot of when Lupe Fiasco said fuck you to his whole fan base and started a Japanese punk band or some shit when everyone in the world was ready to crown him hip-hop’s next legend.  All he had to do was drop his third album in 2008 and not have it be Lasers. 

I’m worried Cudder’s pulling the same shit.  I can’t fucking emphasize enough how much better MOTMI was compared with Mr. Rager.  We’re talking about the difference between a blowjob and getting punched in the testicles.  He’s got this WiZaRd shit coming out that is looking VERY Japanese punk rocky in the sense that I’ve got a horrible feeling it’s gonna suck balls, and then MOTMIII slated for Fall 2012, which I’ve got a horrible feeling is gonna be like when Lupe promised a triple album before 2009 that ended up being Lasers in 2011.  He already canceled the A Man Named Scott mixtape (shoutout to the dopeness of A Kid Named CuDiI btw). 

I’m not trying to hate on CuDi now.  I just want him to go back to producing quality shit.  Note: I’m not saying I want him to “sound like he did back then.”  Artists evolve and if they don’t they get stale, and I hate when ignant mafuckas say ignant shit like they want Lil’ Wayne to make stuff that sounds like Tha Carter II.  In the words of Jay-Z, “Niggas want my old shit, buy my old album.”  But like a year ago I looked at KiD CuDi as the second-best up-and-coming rapper in the game after Drake, but now I see inferior artists like Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and Mac Miller *vomit* getting all this hype that coulda been his if he’d just kept his eye on the prize.  So enough with all this bullshit Wayne bashing and let’s redirect our energy at CuDi until he starts making beautiful love to our ears again.
